McDermott Technology Specialist (IT) in Squamish, British Columbia
Job Overview:
The Senior IT Pillar Tech for Project IT is responsible for providing technical support for project users and locations for the provision of all IT services to McDermott’s Engineering and Construction revenue generating projects. This includes, assisting with user onboarding, site setup, coordinating with site teams, problem solving & reporting, adhering to Corporate IT updates & initiatives and supporting with end user computing during the project lifecycle.
Key part of the role is to support with project mobilization, Site IT operations and project demobilization based on the needs of the projects, which will require travel to the project sites.
Communicates with Project IT Manager, Regional Project IT Manager, Site IT Lead and Project & Construction Management Teams to update on any challenges or upcoming events for better visibility and planning.
Works closely with Project IT Managers and Site IT teams in determining how technology might assist in addressing their needs and requirements, with special focus on Project site locations and users.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Adapt to project needs, Project IT changes and innovations
Communicate within Project IT site team, department, and global group
Assist end-users regularly - monitor and maintain end user environment to a fully functional capacity
Provide site support remotely where required
Supporting new user onboarding process and documentation
Setup end user stations and test system/applications
Ability to perform remote troubleshooting and provide clear instructions
Conversant with MS O365 suite and SharePoint
Provide implementation assistance at new project sites i.e., LAN connectivity, Printer Setup, AP configs etc
Assist in project site mobilization and demob, as required
Maintain project site IT infrastructure and reach out to network team, as needed
Maintain an effective collaborative environment with A/V systems, notification systems and conference rooms
Ensure all IT work areas, distribution closets, equipment rooms, equipment cabinets, site data center, etc. are clean, secured, and locked when not occupied by IT personnel
Utilize MECM or other similar tools to patch, update, and deploy software to enterprise workstations
Collaborate with other IT departments and vendors to ensure smooth integration and operation of IT systems and services
Assist with IT Asset Inventory management for site
Actively update and monitor user & site incidents in ServiceNow
Actively update and monitor site assets in AD and ServiceNow
Assist in preparing Weekly/Monthly project status reports
Monitor all implemented changes introduced into production
Record technical issues, create documentation, and record solutions
Update Project documentation and communications as required
Ensure industry standards are followed
PMT special assignments
Project IT special assignments
Acquire/Maintain ITIL certifications
Assist the Project IT Manager as needed
Work with Asset Coordinator to conduct site asset spot audits
Assist with site asset inventory catch-up
Participate in weekend/holiday on-site user support – where applicable
Participate in the Monthly Project IT Focus Program
Improve skill set and develop career path
At times, minimum 30% international travel is required
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology
ITIL Certification preferred but not essential
Experience preferred in providing IT services to Oil & Gas/Energy sector
Knowledge of the IT delivery to remote project locations
Good Knowledge of MS O365 suite
Knowledge of Cyber Security and IT Networks
Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
