Job Description:

US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System eXtended (US BICES-X) is a cutting edge program supporting DoD intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats to mission and coalition partners and emerging nations. With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team.

The Systems and Database Engineer is a strong, self-motivated, solution-oriented individual who will be joining an experienced team to support the implementation and sustainment of multiple networks. We are looking for an experienced, innovative, and enthusiastic engineer to join us in delivering high quality IT systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Defines and supports architectures for future-state IT capabilities and services.

  • Work with stakeholders to facilitate alignment of business strategies, operational processes, and IT strategies related to future-state architecture changes.

  • Leverage enterprise methodologies and patterns.

  • Operate and sustain database servers.

  • Design the future state of database architectures.

  • Troubleshoot clusters/farms of database servers.

  • Identifying and documenting architectural requirements supporting future Enterprise needs, including goals, approach, Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), and desired end state for each milestone.

  • Apply and maintain STIGs along with overall security posture of database and other servers in the Enterprise.

  • Responsible for developing high level system design diagrams.

  • Evaluates analytically and systematically problems with workflows, organization and planning and develops appropriate corrective actions.

  • Implement and troubleshoot high availability database infrastructures.

  • Prepare assessments, point papers, briefings, and executive presentations to contribute architectural support documents for leadership.

  • Leverage enterprise methodologies and patterns.

  • Analyzes customer needs and provides guidance on industry trends and opportunities.

  • May require professional certification in one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment.

  • May be required to work outside of “normal” work hours to include weekends and holidays.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of database or systems engineering experience required.

  • Bachelor’s degree required (may substitute additional years of experience).

  • Must possess and maintain a full/active TS-SCI Clearance or higher.

  • Must meet DoD 8570 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II (Security+ or equivalent) access.

  • Must have solid understanding of database infrastructure services.

  • Must have solid understanding of performance tuning database systems.

  • Must have solid understanding of high availability strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure Database Administrator Associate

  • Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate (or other database cert)

  • Experience implementing and supporting a MS SQL Server environment.

  • Experience with clustering, AlwaysOn, and other high availability techniques.

  • Experience with Server STIGs, patching, and hardening.

  • Experience with Windows PowerShell.

  • Experience with implementing and maintaining systems documentation.

  • Experience with managing, monitoring, and responding to key server infrastructure alerts.

  • Experience developing DoDAF-compliant enterprise architecture.

  • Experience with T-SQL and writing/optimizing queries.
