Position Title:             Project Manager 

Division:                     Operations

Classification:            Exempt

Location:                    Springfield or Chicago Illinois

Salary:                        $68,000-$78,000

Position Summary:

This is a professional level position that will act as a primary contact with Illinois State Treasurer’s Office (ISTO) clients to help them design and adopt solutions that will make their jobs easier. This role will document and evaluate business requirements, improve business processes, and help ISTO clients communicate and collaborate successfully. The Project Manager will be responsible for the execution of assigned projects, including project management, business analysis, testing, implementation, and training tasks for one or more small to medium size projects. The project manager will champion innovation and the adoption of new processes and technologies. The project manager will utilize project management and business analysis methodologies and techniques to develop and manage business cases, project charters, communication plans, and issue and risk logs while working closely with senior management as well as other departments to ensure that the scope and direction of each project is on track. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects from the initial phase through final implementation.

  • Effectively communicate with ISTO staff to collect business requirements and translate them into developer-friendly specifications and test cases.

  • Effectively set and manage project expectations with stakeholders and communicate status updates in a clear and timely fashion.

  • Define and continuously manage project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with project sponsors and stakeholders.

  • Identify and manage risks associated with assigned projects, recommend mitigation strategies, and develop contingency plans as necessary.

  • Assist with managing projects on the PMO team including occasional coverage for team members when needed.

  • Identify resources required to accomplish project goals and work with appropriate team members on assigned projects.

  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors and team members.

  • Support end-users with training and provide one-on-one assistance to promote the adoption and drive sustainment of digital, web and collaboration tools.

  • Work cross-functionally to solve problems, implement changes, and maximize workflow efficiencies.

  • Provide support for Salesforce, ISTO intranet and SharePoint needs.

  • Provide scheduling and planning support for manager and other tasks as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably related to the duties enumerated above.

  • Experience working in remote teams.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Visio a plus.

  • Experience with communication and collaboration tools, including Microsoft Teams. Knowledge of SharePoint a plus.

  • Knowledge of Salesforce a plus.

    Education and Work Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for college degree. Minimum of three years project management experience or related experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to carry out the duties of the position. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.
