Position Purpose
Directs operations of the Booking office to contribute to the mission and goals of Mercy Medical Center. Provides guidance to all Physician offices to maintain OR schedule and cases for surgery.
What you will do
Schedule surgeries according to block time utilization and accommodating those physicians that do not have block time
Know medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures along with an understanding of anesthetics needed to support surgical procedures
Differentiate between open and laparoscopic surgeries
Understand each surgeon’s procedure and the support needed for such specialties
Receive and input the surgeon’s office faxes for booking of procedures and returns them within 24 hours
Understand procedure codes for each case
Ensure the OR schedule is faxed daily to multiple departments
Confirm cases daily to identify correct data, including date, time, and specific procedure, anesthesia type, and special equipment requests
Schedule pre-admission testing for all surgical patients as needed
Cover various assignments and clerical support of all peri operative services
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Proficient knowledge of Medical Terminology required
Requires a good understanding of surgical procedures
Position Highlights and Benefits
