The Loomis Communities FT-Resident Engagement Assistant in Springfield, Massachusetts

Resident Engagement Assistant- Assisted Living- Dementia Special Care at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing, Springfield SUMMARY: Enhances physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual wellness, by providing quality programming and creating positive resident relationships, to improve the quality of life of residents at the Loomis Communities Nursing Centers. Focuses on person-centered program to aid the resident in wellness programming. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Performs job functions in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Loomis Communities. Adheres to The Loomis Communities Compliance and Ethics Program. Complies with confidentiality requirements and residents\' rights, complies with use of safety regulations, infection control, and standard precautions, and complies with all CARF/CCAC guidelines and standards. 2. Demonstrates an awareness of, a respect for and attention to the diversity of the people with whom they interact (persons served, personnel, families/caregivers, and other stakeholders) that is reflected in attitudes, behavior and services. 3. Assists the Resident Engagement Coordinators in developing, planning and implementing a variety of quality programs to meet the needs and interests of residents across the continuum of care (NC, IL and AL). 4. Follows scheduled calendar of activities, preparing for and leading daily programs and documenting program attendance, to enhance resident wellness. Works cooperatively, and collaborates with, other staff, volunteers and service providers to ensure quality programming. 5. Invites, and safely transports, residents to and from activities. May be required to drive transport vehicles for off-campus programming. 6. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of program locations and storage areas on a daily basis, and decorates for holidays, events and seasonal themes as needed. 7. Respects the individuality of residents by providing materials to promote independent or alternative leisure involvement, and by adapting activities as needed to ensure participation from all residents regardless of abilities or preferences. QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Education: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) Preferred Experience: One year of related experience or training Licenses(Required/Preferred) Valid Drivers License Skills/Compentencies: 1. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 2. Ability to read, write, and speak English for documentation and programming. Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents, family members and others. 3. Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing various units of measure. 4. Ability to relate well to all residents, including the emotionally upset. 5. Ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors and the public. Knowledge of operation of audio visual equipment. 6. Ability to report to work regularly and promptly. 7. Ability to work beyond normal hours when necessary. 8. Utilizes good task management and the ability to manage one?s time effectively throughout the course of their shift to complete the essential job functions within the allotted time.
