MassMutual Data Engineer in New York, New York

The Opportunity

As a Data Engineer, you will work in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment on exciting assignments that are focused on the adoption of leading-edge technologies, implementation patterns, and data management standards and controls.

The Team

The Wealth Management Technology Team supports complex and very dynamic business for product delivery, financial planning services, lending services, and investment operations. The team’s mission statement is to “provide exceptional service and support to project workstreams and business stakeholders by meeting or exceeding expectations”; and a guiding principle is to “deliver the best quality solution as quickly as possible without compromising best practices or strategic goals”. The Impact

You will work with various stakeholders across the organization to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that meet their requirements and align with our data strategy. You will also mentor junior data engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data engineering practices and standards.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles

  • 3+ years supporting and maintaining cloud-based database applications and solutions

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with Informatica Power Center or cloud (IDMC/IICS)

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated experience with application and data integration architectures

  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing product documentation, written instructions, and technical literature for accuracy and completeness

  • Experience with wealth management or financial services projects

  • Strong knowledge of architecture principles, development standards, and best practices

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Data Governance and MDM technologies and methodologies

  • AWS Cloud Data Engineer certification

  • Mastery experience with database SQL coding and scripting

  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools, such as Airflow, Luigi, or Dagster

  • Experience with data processing frameworks, such as Spark, Hadoop, or Flink

  • Experience data modelling in support of an enterprise data warehouse and custom application databases

  • Experience with data lake technologies, such as Vertica, including maintenance and support of an enterprise data warehouse

  • Experience maintaining and supporting business critical custom build applications

  • Experience maintaining and publishing standards and best practices with respect to DB architecture, design, naming, back-up, security, and usage

  • Designs and develops packages, stored procedures, functions, views, queries and other related jobs to facilitate application access to data

  • Knowledge and experience with Java application development

  • Knowledge and experience unit testing using test driven development

  • Assists in troubleshooting, analyzing, and optimizing DB performance issues

  • Can do attitude, with the ability to drive to success in both independent and group projects

  • Able to be agile in thinking and approach to solve the problem at hand

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to deliver results quickly in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects

  • Ability to work with other IT groups and business users

Salary Range: $131,100.00-$172,000.00
