Job Description:

About the Role:

This role of Process Safety Engineer will serve as a technical lead for Process Safety Management (PSM) and PSM-like processes in the Company’s manufacturing locations. This includes but is not limited to ammonia refrigeration systems, natural gas trains and combustion systems, combustible dust and potential Insurance Audit recommendations that align in Process Safety scopes. This role will work closely with our Operations and Maintenance teams, Technical Operations, and Environmental, Health and Safety to implement programs, systems, and standard work to minimize risk in the se covered areas.

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on plant utility processes, specifically ammonia refrigeration and natural gas trains and combustion systems.

  • Assist with implementation of an internal PSM program standards. The program focuses on risk identification and reduction, incident investigation, auditing, gap analysis, corrective action tracking, and regulatory compliance using a formatted computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) based program incorporated in each of the current ammonia facilities in the company.

  • Partner with plant managers and technical operations leads to ensure that PSM programs, corporate standards, employee training, and site level engagement are up to par with company expectations.

  • Lead complex investigations and identify effective, corrective, and preventive actions.

  • Assure management and schedule of auditing program is adhered to in all facilities. Oversee corrective action implementation from audits and follow through completion.

  • Review observations from internal insurance audits. Track and ensure closure of corrective actions for critical risk findings.

  • Work with manufacturing locations and Technical Operations team to identify capital needs and build plan for 1,3 and 5 year outlooks.

  • Serve as a technical lead to ensure all critical elements are included in the design and scope of capital projects related to PSM processes.

  • Serve as a technical lead supporting the Environmental, Health, and Safety team on compliance related matters.

  • Develop and report on key performance indicators across all levels of the organization (plants through executive leadership).

  • Ensure sufficient training processes and toolkits are available and implemented throughout the company.

Important Details: This is a full-time remote position with approximately 50% travel.

About You:

You’ll fit right in if you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years plant experience with a strong technical aptitude around ammonia refrigeration, natural gas trains, and combustion systems.

  • A passion for this field of work and tenacity to build towards world-class systems.

  • Detailed knowledge of Process Safety Management regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with combustible dust hazards and mitigation.

  • Strong presentation skills with experience in concisely summarizing problems and recommending actions.

  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence operations, and build consensus opinions.

  • Travel approximately 50%.
