The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Accounting Operations, the Associate Analyst is a key member of the Insurance Accounting Operations team and performs a wide variety of accounting functions and analyses.

In office role with hybrid schedule, 3 days in the Ally Schaumburg IL office and 2 days work from home. At this time, Ally will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.

The Work Itself

  • Perform billing activities.
  • Process incoming cash receipts and apply funds to appropriate receivables.
  • Submit purchase order requisitions in Coupa.
  • Perform accounts payable functions including processing invoices, check requests, check printing and electronic payments including required correspondence.
  • Prepare month end close journal entries, reconciliations and analyses.
  • Research reconciliation variances and propose adjustments.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Participate in accounting and technology projects by testing enhancements.
  • Support the department's compliance with internal controls, governance, and vendor management.
  • Create and maintain desktop procedures.
  • Complete projects as assigned.

The Skills You Bring

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Experience preparing accounting entries and reconciliations.
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g. SAP, Workday, Coupa)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (vlookups, pivot tables).
  • Interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail with critical thinking, analytical and organization skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
