40% Under general direction, serves as an Application Developer for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), supporting the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH):\ Performs difficult and specialized professional work in the Information Technology area of Application Services.\ Works as a member of a team of developers and analysts establishing and maintaining assigned applications.\ Performs professional advisory functions in the development and analysis tasks assigned by the project manager utilizing HL7, HL7 PHIR, IBM Web Sphere Transformation Extender, Rhapsody, and laboratory software applications.\ Performs analysis, coding, and maintenance of interfaces that handle the processing of electronic lab report (ELR) data for Hospitals, labs, and other facilities.\ Coordinates with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to create new interfaces for case reporting utilizing, SQL Server, and Java application programming and transmission.

\ 20% Performs complex analysis and consults with the Project Manager on data analysis for input into the Illinois Disease Surveillance System and other assigned systems and applications.

\ 15% Provides input and assists the Project Manager with the creation and modifications of design documents:\ Provides input on specifications, formats, record layout, and report formats for assigned applications.

15% Assists the Project Manager with the implementation and deployment of assigned applications to the application servers:\ Provides input and assists in the monitoring of the application performance and communication with network and server support staff for related application issues.

\ 5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology and Healthcare Integration fields:\ Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.\ Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.

\ 5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
