Job Details:

The primary responsibility of the Director of Commodity Project Management Office is to lead a team of technical specialists to maintain, develop, innovate, and digitize the Commodity Group\'s processes, systems, and analytics to deliver data-driven insights enterprise-wide. This role will plan, coordinate, and direct PMO activities across internal and external resources to achieve optimal support of business leaders through clear, actionable information for decision-making. The position also ensures optimal financial and physical supply chain performance through efficient and resilient systems. This role blends leadership with strategic thought leadership, providing guidance, mentoring, and strategy development while driving tangible business outcomes and value creation.

The leader in this role will partner closely with other Commodity Business Pillar functions (procurement, trading, elevators, sustainability) as well as other key IT and business stakeholders, including senior executives. As a highly strategic and visible position within Tyson Foods, this role is critical to advancing the organization\'s goals. The Director will lead a team of approximately 10-15 members, including subject matter experts (SMEs) in IT, analytics, supply chain management, clerical staff, and consulting groups. This position serves as a key service provider to the Commodity Purchasing Group (CPG) and other adjacent groups.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, own, and maintain the Commodity Procurement Group\'s (CPG) project and technology roadmap to align with organizational goals.
  • Facilitate collaboration across procurement, technology, and business unit leadership to ensure effective systems and processes that enable business decisions.
  • Coordinate and prioritize initiatives for systems, reporting, and process improvements, including the evaluation of business cases for Return on Invested Capital (ROIC), risk, and opportunity.
  • Oversee the implementation of innovative practices and enabling technologies to optimize commodity procurement and supply chain workflows.
  • Define performance metrics and KPIs to measure and improve productivity, resilience, and operational outcomes.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, providing actionable insights, guidance, and recommendations on system-related initiatives and business opportunities.
  • Drive alignment with the organization\'s strategic goals and support the Head of Commodity Purchasing in achieving divisional objectives.
  • Evaluate and select system technologies, coordinate the design of standard configurations, and ensure seamless integration to empower business operations.
  • Collaborate on sustainability initiatives related to Scope 2 & 3 initiatives such as regenerative agriculture and renewable energy integration, driving value for the enterprise and aligning with Tyson\'s long-term goals.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, standards, and methodologies.
  • Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to CPG key stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and C-suite members.
  • Oversee claims recovery, financial reporting, and commodity payables administration, ensuring accurate and timely resolution while supporting stakeholders to facilitate seamless transaction flow and mitigate operational risks.

Requirements

Education/Certifications: Bachelor\'s degree required. Advanced degrees or certif cations in IT, project management, supply chain, or procurement are strongly preferred.

Experience: 10+ years of experience in relevant fields is preferred. Specifically, procurement, enterprise strategy, corporate development, IT, or PMO leadership, with a proven track record of driving cross-functional collaboration and achieving measurable results. Demonstrated success in managing diverse teams and complex projects in a dynamic business environment.

Technical Skills: Advanced computer skills required. Experience with commodity procurement or trading systems a plus. Deep knowledge of process optimization, digitization, and data analytics as applied to commodity procurement and supply chains.

Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences and influence across organizational levels.

Leadership & Special Skills: Critical ability to think strategically, implement tactically, and adapt quickly in response to evolving market conditions or organizational priorities. Proven ability to lead teams of specialists with varying expertise, fostering collaboration and development. Strong understanding of commodity procurement, risk management, and supply chain dynamics is preferred.
