Contec, Inc. Associate Automation Control Engineer in Spartanburg, South Carolina

**[SUMMARY [The associate automation controls engineer provides electrical, automation, and controls support to Production and the rest of the engineering team. This individual is tasked with maintaining and improving Contecs manufacturing processes.

  • Applies standard engineering techniques to designing, developing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and facility controls systems.
  • Automates manufacturing process equipment using controls systems through internal development or oversite of vendors.
  • Implements methods for error prevention (Poke Yoke, Autonomation / Jidoka).
  • Develops new and modifies existing PLC or HMI applications, interfaces, or embedded controls.
  • Participates in the specification of, design review of, testing of, and commissioning of new production and/or facility equipment.
  • Assists in the troubleshooting and resolution of equipment or control system malfunctions and making recommendations that will improve reliability and prevent reoccurring malfunction.
  • Documents and maintains all PLC programs, HMI screen files, other parameter files for all manufacturing and/or facility equipment.
  • Understands and ensures compliance with all relevant national and international safety regulations, quality standards, and internal and external customer requirements. (NEC, CE, OSHA, NFPA, etc.)

[EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE [Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar degree from four-year college or university or an associate degree in mechatronics or similar with 3 years of experience]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}

  • Experience with PLCs and motion controls, programming and architecture, Industrial HMI design, machine level troubleshooting and debugging, configuring sensors, and wiring basic electrical circuits. [Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Automation Direct, Red Lion (preferred)]
  • Experience with robotics, vision systems, barcode systems, RFID systems.
  • Experience with historians and SCADA systems preferred.
