Mountainland Technical College Program Coordinator, Cosmetology in Spanish Fork, Utah

COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Location: Spanish Fork, UT

Status: Full-Time

Hours: 40 hours weekly, including one night a week and at least one Saturday a month

Pay / Salary: $58,854-$73,568

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Programs for Cosmetology, Hair Design and Nail Technician, you will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects the program on the assigned campus. See a detailed list of responsibilities below.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures an excellent student experience, with student completion, placement, and licensure (if applicable) as the primary goal of the program.

  • Coordinates Program(s) with complex structure which may include some or all of the following:

  • Program Accreditation or State oversight

  • Large student count or high membership hours

  • Extended operating hours

  • Public facing activities or clinicals

  • Multiple instructors and staff

  • Salon

  • Models instructional excellence, instructing and overseeing students in salon, regularly (1-2 times a week)

  • Actively monitors activities in the classroom and lab, giving feedback to students and instructors

  • Schedules faculty, staff, and substitutes, ensuring appropriate coverage for all areas of instruction and salon

  • Provides orientation and support for new hires

  • Supervises employee(s); including approving time cards and performance evaluations

  • Contributes to curriculum development and updates

  • Ensures that program stays compliant with accreditation requirements

  • Contributes to planning, implementing and reporting of annual Occupational Advisory Committee meetings

  • Ensures currency of course syllabi and Canvas courses.

  • Responsible for equipment use and repair, and labs being kept clean and safe

  • Maintains purchasing card for equipment and supply purchases, and reconciles with credit card statement and inventory needs

  • Responsible for externships, clinicals or other workplace experiences

  • Displaying strong leadership skills, operates the department with minimal supervision from the Associate Program Director, holds regular departmental meetings, and organizes training and development opportunities in coordination with the Associate Program Director and the Office of Teaching and Learning.

  • This position entails all of the responsibilities of an instructor in addition to the responsibilities above.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director, Director, Associate Vice President, or Vice President of Instruction

    QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and leader

  • Skilled in Program subject matter, with demonstrated continuing education related to Program

  • Experience in and ability to successfully interact with high school and adult students, parents, business and industry representatives, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner

  • Computer skills, Excel, Word, Adobe, Google, Avid, ADP, etc.

  • Proficient with the Canvas learning management system

  • Proficient with Northstar student information system

  • Dedication to students, faculty, staff, College and program is essential

  • Must be a High School graduate. Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.

  • Current industry licensure, certification and education is required

  • Minimum 5 years related work experience

  • Education and leadership experience required
