Job Title: Underwriting Associate

Duration: 6+ months

Location: Remote (Must reside in Southfield Michigan)

Pay rate: $25/hr.

We are looking for an Underwriting Associate to join one of our Fortune 500 clients.

Job Summary:

The Underwriting Associate acts as the primary point of contact for insurance agency clients, responsible for placing various insurance coverages such as Bonds, Crime, Windstorm, Flood, Cyber, and others. They manage day-to-day customer service and basic underwriting tasks for self-insured property/casualty and workers’ compensation pool clients.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Place miscellaneous ancillary lines policies for Pools and stand-alone accounts.

• Review and complete applications, submit to markets, and process policy change requests.

• Maintain client and carrier communications, handle premium quotations, and create proposals.

• Invoice policies, process inquiries and correspondence, review expirations, and prepare policy renewal notices.

• Manage preliminary claims notices and file Surplus Lines taxes.

• Serve as the primary contact for self-insured pool member clients, handling customer service and underwriting needs.

• Maintain underwriting exposures, issue verification of coverage, and coordinate contribution audits.

• Process renewals and manage account setups in underwriting systems.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.

• Experience: 9+ years in insurance, 5+ years in commercial property/casualty customer service, including workers’ compensation.

• Licenses: General P/C agent license required or obtainable within 6 months.

• Skills/Abilities: Strong customer service, organizational skills, proficiency in agency systems, multitasking ability, and detail-oriented.
