Durr Systems, Inc. Senior Buyer (Job Code: 1008) in Southfield, Michigan

Responsible for participating in a variety of types projects, including PFS, CTS, APT and ATS work in a variety of scopes such as ductwork, electrical and mechanical installation, piping, steelwork, sheet metal, insulation, fire protection, E coat tank coating, heat generation, cold water generation, waste water treatment, paint circulation systems, building construction and deep cleaning, both for greenfield (new plants) and brownfield (revamp) projects; responsible for complete subcontract generation, from the time engineering documents are received to placement of the order and any necessary change orders; generate project "Boilerplate" documents, including Owner Specifications, Owner T&Cs, Durr T&Cs, Site Specific Requirements, and Compatibility Information; investigate potential sources for fabrications and subcontracts; investigate potential sources for fabrications and subcontracts including suppliers in Mexico; coordinate, chair, and document Bid Package review meetings; utilize MS Project, SAP purchasing module, SAP PS-200 interpretation, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Total Cost Risk (TCR), Project Center, engineering drawing interpretation, game theory, reverse auction, unit price negotiation, and target price negotiation to perform duties; assemble Bid Package documentation, create price sheets and installation schedules, and distribute to bidders; provide answers to all bidders for any questions that occur during the bid cycle; review bids and create pricing comparison summaries, perform cost analysis based on unit prices, hours, original estimation, and existing conditions on site; coordinate and document clarification meetings with potential subcontractors; negotiate final pricing; document Pre-Award requirements, obtain approvals, and create Purchase Order in SAP; attend and support project meetings, and organize and drive multinational sourcing meetings and periodic commercial clarification meetings with subcontractors on site; identify possible bottlenecks, critical path and long lead items/bidding packages that could endanger the successful project execution and generate action plans to avoid possible delays; and generate quarterly reports with negotiation results.

 

Location: Southfield, MI and various unanticipated locations throughout the US;

 

Salary: $104,000 per year;

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);

 

Experience: Four (4) years in the position above, as a Head of Purchasing, as a Logistics Manager, as a Project Manager, as a Purchasing Manager, as a Subcontract Buyer, or in a related occupation;
