Senior EH&S Engineer

Under the direction of EH&S Manager, you provide engineering support to ensure Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability within Mentor Medical Systems B.V in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local EH&S policies and standards relevant to Mentor as part of Johnson & Johnson.

Main responsibilities:

• Expert in Occupational Hygiene subjects (e.g. noise, ergonomics, exposure to chemicals), Transport Safety, EH&S Risk Assessments (e.g. JSA’s, Risk assessments).

• Lead and / or support the implementation of EH&S Standards within your field of expertise.

• Coach / lead teams of EH&S Representatives and Standards Owners / SME’s as part of Integrated Ownership of Safety Standards (IOSS).

• Perform EH&S assessments within projects and set up, support EH&S projects (for example waste reduction, use of chemical substances).

• Lead incident investigations.

• Lead in- and external audits and inspections (for example ISO 14001, ISO 45001, J&J EH&S Audits, governmental agencies).

• Conduct EH&S related risk assessments like facility, ergonomic and chemical risk assessments.

• Give EH&S training on EH&S related topics.

• Present periodically to the Site Leadership Team.

• Develop and/or improve EH&S processes and practices.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Experience and education

• Bachelor or comparable level.

• Additional course Middelbaar Veiligheids Kundige (MVK) and/or Hoger Veiligheids Kundige (HVK).

• Fluent in Dutch and English.

• Experience with international Management System Standards like ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.

• Experience with management of Emergency Response.

Required knowledge and skills

• 5 years similar work experience in similar job and industry environment.

• Experience in Manufacturing environment preferred.

• Excellent communication skills, able to quickly build credibility within the site, JnJ EH&S community, external regulators, and industry.

• Proven track record of demonstrating collaboration across the organization and at all levels.

• Accountability, with a strong desire to commit, be held accountable and be rewarded for delivering results.

• Ability to recognize, build support for change and engage in constructive conflict.

• High tolerance for ambiguity in a complex environment.

• Ability to make the complex clear and easily understood by others.

• Ability to build partnerships both internally and externally.

• Capacity to put EH&S central to all thinking.

• Contract type: initially 1 year contract with intention to extend to permanent contract
