St. Joseph County Public Library Creative Spaces Coordinator - Main Branch in South Bend, Indiana

Essential Job Functions

  1. Plan and organize the librarys rotating interactive community exhibit space, the smART box. This includes creating an annual plan and schedule for installations as well as the physical creation of museum quality exhibits.
  2. Coordinate special engagement areas, including Main Library exhibit spaces and other art installations. Develop an exhibit calendar, coordinate artists and vendors, and ensure high quality implementation.
  3. Participate in the set up and tear down of spaces and layouts. Communicate frequently with the Facilities Department. Maintain an inventory of creative spaces equipment and materials. Purchase equipment and supplies.
  4. Evaluate systemwide creative space usage success and make recommendations for improvements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Hours

  • Variable weekly hours, averaging 10 hours per week overall.
  • Evenings and weekends as needed.

Wages

Starting/Hiring Range:$17.99**- $21.59, Hourly

Total Salary Range: $17.99 - $25.19, Hourly**


Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.
  • Passion for art and culture.
  • Extensive knowledge of and connections to the local art community.
  • Public service orientation and commitment to excellent and genuine customer service.
  • Demonstration of character and integrity in all situations while upholding SJCPLs ethical standards.
  • Experience working with and proficiency with computers, including Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Windows and Mac OS and communication technologies.
  • Knowledge of library materials and services appropriate for a variety of patrons.
  • Physical agility and strength to bend, reach, lift, and move up to 50lbs. and to stand for long periods of time.
  • Comfortable with public speaking.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.
