Job Overview:The Lead Medical Technologist provides technical/regulatory guidance and compliance with quality assurance programfor the Blood Donor Program under the direction of the Transfusion Services supervisor and Transfusion Medicine Medical Director.
Qualifications:
Required:
Medical Technologist with 2 years of experience in Immuno-hematology
Immuno-hematology knowledge.
Basic computer skills
Preferred:
ASCP or equivalent certification preferred
Phlebotomy skills
MLS, MT or equivalent
CPR training
Scheduling Requirements:

Day Shift
Essential Functions:
Evaluates, validates and implements new equipment, develop new processes and performs preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies: FDA, AABB, CAP, NJDOH, and Joint Commission.
Develop and keep current Standard Operating Procedures and Policies under the direction of the Transfusion Services supervisor and Transfusion Medicine Medical Director.
Monitors department QC and equipment maintenance
Investigates complaints, problems and errors; ensures appropriate action is taken.
Performs tracking and trending analysis as needed.
Performs Blood Services quality program duties as needed.
Maintains Blood Services quality program in accordance with regulations.
Oversees the collection and production of blood components manufactured at RWJUH Somerset.
Assists with blood donor collection as needed.
Participates in Transfusion Committee meetings.
Provides feedback on donor room employee performance and assists phlebotomy supervisor with:
Training of employees and volunteers in duties and responsibilities of their specific job descriptions.
Training of laboratory and hospital policies and blood donor room procedures including cGMP.
Monitoring employees continuing education, competency, and proficiency.
Rotates as needed in Transfusion Service department as a performing technologist.
Read, be with familiar with, participate in periodic education/training regarding, and comply with, Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas' Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and other corporate compliance policies (as may be amended from time to time).
