The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is actively seeking a dedicated and conscientious Nurse Aid for the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Certified Nurse's Aide under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide care in the following areas: Skilled Care, Personal Care, Outpatient, and General Population. Some of the daily duties include, but are not limited to: completing basic nursing skills and nursing procedures to maintain optimum inmate health and provide quality care, completing documentation as required and collecting specimens as directed by the Registered Nurse for urine, feces, and sputum. You will have the opportunity to completing or assist inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to ensure basic physical care needs are met. Work includes participating in Life Skills programming by: following nursing care plan orders; providing care/interventions consistent with inmate's needs; documenting on assigned aspects of nursing care plan. You will participate in emergency situations by: performing emergency procedures as indicated-CPR, obstructed airway; participating in emergency response drills as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM 8-hour shifts with rotating days off Alternative work schedules may be available depending on operational needs. Work hours TO BE DETERMINED. Schedule to be determined by open shifts at the time of hire. Days off rotate. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement: This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
