At CableCom , as a Safety manager , you’ll provide subject matter expertise on Safety and Health matters, training to the workforce, and ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local safety and health regulations. This position reports directly to the Safety Director and is responsible for our Washington and Oregon locations. Preferred candidates will be capable of providing subject matter expertise on Safety and Health matters, training the workforce and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local safety and health regulations.

    What you’ll do as a Safety Manager

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations that apply to all operations and job sites.

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and requirements.

  • Perform accident investigation and root cause analysis for workplace injuries and vehicle collisions.

  • Conduct facility inspections and risk assessments and ensure all findings and observations are addressed.

  • Develop and update safety and health programs as directed.

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled job site inspections to verify compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company safety policies.

  • Assure project managers and employees adhere to company policies and practices while performing assigned work adhering to inspection protocol and utilization of company assets.

  • Assure Job Safety Observations (JSOs) and Job Task Safety Analysis (JTSA) inspections are completed by project foreman and supervision to comply with safety and health requirements.

  • Provide initial and refresher employee safety and health training.

  • Inspect and monitor field aerial and underground operations to verify trained and certified employees are conducting work or using equipment or tools that requires specific training and certification.

  • Review DriveCam system to assess employee driving behaviors and conduct coaching or refresher training as applicable.

  • Model safety behaviors to drive a culture of safety.

    What you’ll need

  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science or Management, Engineering, or other relevant qualifications and work experience.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of telecommunications construction safety work experience.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) requirements.

  • Relevant certifications (eg: CSP, OSHA 30, First Aid CPR trainer).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

  • Motivated and creative to address and correct observed safety behaviors.

  • Able to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time with the ability to reprioritize workload to business demands.

  • Able to work autonomously as well as within a cohesive safety team environment.

  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office programs and Google suite.

  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.

  • Travel throughout the Washington and Oregon territores as necessary. 75% field responsibility, company vehicle provided.

    Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: Standing – 2-4 hours daily. Walking - 2 to 4 hours daily. Sitting - 6 to 8 hours daily. Driving - typically 4 to 6 hours daily.

    Salary Range $75,000 - $90,000 per year
