Army National Guard Units ALLIED TRADES WORKER (TITLE 32) in Smyrna, Tennessee

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ALLIED TRADES WORKER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD1220000 and is part of the TN ARMY National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 103 (Volunteer Chapter). Responsibilities As an ALLIED TRADES WORKER, WG-5801-08 (MILITARY), will perform complicated skilled trades tasks in any Allied trades shops. Repair mobile equipment metal body components such as fenders, panels, hooks, truck beds. Paint a wide variety of vehicles using standard methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to directions, and by the application of coating techniques that assure surface is fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs. Modify, repair, and make canvas parts such as truck tarpaulin, machinery and equipment cover. Construct and repair boxes, pallets, wood bracing to be used in shipping and storage. Operate various machine tools performing work involved in various simple fabrications as instructed by a higher-grade machinist who will lay out the work required and give specific instructions in the performance of the work required. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-2 through E-6 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 12 months experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories. Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
