Position Summary Information
Position Summary
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Slippery Rock University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor in our well-established, three year, fully accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. A Fall 2025 hire is anticipated. Slippery Rock University is one of 10 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, offering an excellent salary structure, a comprehensive benefits package, and an exceptional retirement program. Responsibilities will include developing and teaching courses in the faculty member’s area of expertise and areas of need within the DPT program. Opportunities to be involved with clinical education may also be available. Other faculty responsibilities include service on department, college, and university committees, student advising, and pursuit of scholarly activity through research and publication. All faculty must comply with accreditation requirements of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education ( CAPTE ).
Minimum Qualifications
Current unrestricted license or eligibility for PT licensure in Pennsylvania.
Doctoral preparation with a DPT , PhD, EdD, or other doctoral degree earned.
Successful candidates must possess effective communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
Contemporary clinical practice and expertise beyond that obtained in an entry-level physical therapy program in one or more of the following content/practice areas: orthotics and prosthetics rehabilitation/training, pediatrics, cardiopulmonary physical therapy, principles of therapeutic exercise, healthcare business practices.
Teaching experience with evidence of strong teaching skills and use of instructional technology.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.
Successful performance in an interview and teaching demonstration is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or other).
Experience teaching in a graduate-level physical therapy program.
Experience as a coordinator of clinical education or clinical instructor.
Evidence of commitment to a scholarly agenda, community engagement, and professional advocacy.
Advanced training or board certification in an area of clinical expertise.
Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to contribute to the program, department, and the university.
