    Job Summary

    Under general supervision, the Emergency Vehicle Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on emergency vehicles. An employee in this position provides services and repairs for a small fleet of diesel and gasoline ambulances. This position is also responsible for keeping accurate maintenance and shop records. The mechanic operates under the general supervision and also reports directly to the company’s Fleet Manager.

    Responsibilites

    -Accurate diagnosis and effective repair and or replacement of components necessary for the proper functioning of vehicles or equipment.

    -Road tests vehicles for quality of repairs completed

    -Communicates delays on repairs that will not meet the promised time frame given for the repair

    -Troubleshoots and repairs ambulances quickly during crisis situations.

    -Performs the required preventative maintenance according to recommendations.

    -Uses various diagnostic equipment, tools, and other shop equipment including Ford IDS and FDRS platforms.

    Basic Qualifications

    At least 12 months experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) as a mechanic working on:

    -Both gasoline and diesel engines

    -Vehicle electrical systems

    -Brakes and suspension systems

    -Satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s Driving Policy.

    -Able to keep workspace organized, neat, and clean

    -Work well under pressure

    -Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    -Able to prioritize workload, multitask and be detail-oriented

    -Perform preventive maintenance inspections at State or other oversight agency levels.

    Preferred Qualifications (not required)

    -12 months of experience ambulance with Ford engine diagnosis and repair.

    -12 months experience working as an ambulance or other emergency vehicle service technician

    -ASE certifications

    Educational Requirements

    At least one applicable ASE Certification preferred.
