Job Summary

Perform technical laboratory testing and other procedures in the reproductive clinical laboratory in accordance with standard operating procedures. Assist with all laboratory duties, to include the meeting of all safety, quality and regulatory requirements. Collect and process lab specimens and performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. May collect and manage samples of blood and other fluids from patients as needed. Must be knowledgeable of current laboratory procedures to perform laboratory tests and procedures, and to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.

Recognize safety hazards and comply with all safety practices and protocols. Must be knowledgeable of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation. Read and understand information about instrumentation in the laboratory field. Demonstrate skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations, and in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Follow written protocols, work independently. Must show an ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science or a related field, or a four-year medical technologist degree required.

Experience in reproductive endocrinology, andrology and /or embryology desired.

Must meet Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) requirements for high complexity testing

If working in North Dakota: must possess a valid license from the North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.

If working in Minnesota and South Dakota: No license required.
