C & B Operations Payroll and Benefits Manager - Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

C and B Material Handling, LLC (part of the C and B Equipment family), a leader and supplier of choice in material handling equipment, automation solutions, and industrial equipment rental, is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Manager for our location in Sioux Falls, SD.

The Payroll and Benefits Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll management and benefits administration. This position ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll, manages employee benefits programs, and implements strategies to optimize payroll and benefits processes. The Payroll and Benefits Manager provides expert advice and counsel to management and staff on a variety of payroll and benefits related issues, in a multi-company environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Administers bi-weekly payroll processing assuring that data is recorded and communicated accurately. Assures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations as regards to reporting.
  • Assures that our payroll processes and procedures remain in compliance with all Federal, State and local rules and regulations.
  • Manages all employee benefit enrollment and programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, voluntary benefits, and other fringe benefits.
  • Manages employee benefit eligibility for appropriate qualifying life events and measures employees during applicable lookback periods per company plan description standards.
  • Leads and manages open enrollment and benefit life event process in UKG.
  • Reconciles all benefit invoices making corrections and adjustments with the carriers.
  • In coordination with the Director of HR, reviews benefit offerings, market trends, employee feedback, and provider rate quotes to make recommendations.
  • Manages and administers COBRA in compliance with all laws and regulations including issuing notices, correspondence with insurance carriers, and managing payments.
  • Manages the PTO program in UKG.
  • Responds to all information requests related to the Division of Unemployment Insurance.
  • Performs system integrity checks, including payroll musters, time clock audits, and benefit audits.
  • Leads payroll and benefit reporting and distribution responsibilities, including W-2, annual 5500 filing, compensation plan administration, and any other benefit compliance notification (i.e. annual CHIPR and Creditable coverage notices).
  • Leads training employees and managers in the use of UKG self-service features for payroll, time management and benefits.
  • Leads training employees on various benefits, answers questions and resolves issues.
  • Leads 401K administration and audit/audit action items and corrections in compliance with all regulations.
  • Recommends process improvements based on business needs and software changes/enhancements.
  • Maintains knowledge of payroll/benefit legal changes and practices and communicates them to employees and managers as needed on an ongoing basis.
  • Provides courteous and prompt resolution of employee inquiries (wage requests, employment verifications, password resets, unemployment, and benefits inquiries).
  • Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; with prolonged period of sitting at a desk; frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
