Caterpillar currently has an opportunity for a Technical Sales Support Engineer in Singapore. The position is part of the Electric Power Gas Application Engineering team providing front line technical support to our Caterpillar dealers, MWM distributors and sales teams with a focus on packaged Gas genset products. This role would be of interest for those with good technical knowledge and a desire to help our commercial team match their projects needs to our product capabilities. This role helps to deliver sales results while also engaging our Product Engineers to help them better understand the needs of our customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Respond to Caterpillar dealer and MWM distributor technical inquiries on Electric Power gas products ranging from very basic to extremely involved at the project & design level in the Asia Pacific regionThis includes development of Design to Order (DTO) quotations for custom products not offered in the standard price list

  • Consultation with both the dealer/distributor & sales organizations on product offerings and how to best apply them. This can include project specific technical guidance along with being an interface to core engineering teams while investigating alternative solutions

  • Evaluate genset transient performance, rating and configuration compatibility with customer spec requirements and site conditions

  • Feedback to engineering and product definition teams in order to drive and improve future product development allowing Caterpillar to better meet our customer needs

  • Act as a liaison to a specific sales region to better understand the needs of that market and work to lead the A&I team in a more focused support of that region

  • Identification & delivery of product application training along with creating independent materials and tools to assist with frequently requested topics

What You Have:

  • Experience with product and/or industry expertise with generator sets

  • Technical and commercial experience in areas like Product Definition, Engineering, Project Management, Technical Sales Support or Sales would be an asset

  • Background in electrical systems and / or generators

  • Familiarity with various Caterpillar systems (EOMP, CSQ, AISTO, TechGen and other technical, drawing and operations system)

Additional Info:

This position require travelling up to 20% of the time, primarily within Asia.
