Abbott Southeast Asia Regional Controller - Core Diagnostics in Singapore, Singapore

Primary Job Function:

This position manages and executes a wide range of financial planning and analytical processes supporting the Southeast Asia region which includes Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore affiliates.

This role directly manages a team of five direct reports and their staff across the five affiliates and the regional headquarters in Singapore.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the creation, consolidation, analysis, and reporting of the Plan and RLBEs for the region including financial counsel and guidance to the organization.

  • Foster an environment that systematically delivers comprehensive analytics and anticipates / responds to changes in the market.

  • Develop and coach the Southeast Asia Finance organization to ensure consistent, effective and value-added support to the commercial organization.

Key Activities Include:

  • Provide financial expertise in evaluating and identifying key issues and gaps in business performance and emerging business needs.

  • Delivering analysis that provides a foundation for management understanding and action.

  • Consolidate and provide concise overviews guiding senior management to understand key drivers of performance.

  • Provide meaningful, value-added analytics to influence and counsel senior management on potential opportunities and exposures.

  • Develop flexible and comprehensive analytical tools for use by by the region for effective decision-support.

  • Develop management presentations for Country Management Reviews, Plans and RLBEs.

  • Develop comprehensive analysis of all data and assumptions used in the planning cycle to support achievability of forecasts.

Key processes include:

  • Prepare monthly sales and P&L forecasts with the regional leadership to understand major trends in the business.

  • Review and approve deal profitability analysis to ensure new deals meet financial objectives.

  • Analyze and make recommendations for Balance Sheet and related Cash Flow for the region. This includes thorough understanding of causal variances along with detailed analysis of Service Equipment, Inventory and Receivables.

  • Ensure the integrity and validity of financial databases (SAP, TM1, HFM, SEAS, etc).

  • Implement and monitor the internal control process within Southeast Asia, including proper reporting of distributor in-market sales and inventory days on hand.

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis and projects.

Position Accountability / Scope:

The role is a hands-on commercial finance role, providing multiple country support across Southeast Asia, interacting with all countries and the Asia Pacific Area finance team. The role has a dotted-line reporting responsibility to the Managing Director of the Southeast Asia region.

Minimum Education:

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.

  • MBA/CPA preferred but not required.

Minimum Experience / Training Required:

  • 10+ Years of finance/accounting experience.

  • Strong experience and understanding of the forecasting mechanics of Sales, P&L, and Balance Sheet items.

  • Experience supporting an international commercial organization is preferred, either at Area or Affiliate level.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, innovative thinking, organizational skills, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills are required.

  • Power-Excel and Power BI users are preferred. Previous experience with Cognos Powerplay and / or TM1 is preferred.

Supervisory / Management Responsibilities: 1 Regional Financial Analyst, 4 country Finance Managers and their reports, and 1 Intern.
