Job Description

Essential Job Functions

As the key commercial link between Gilead and oncology healthcare practitioners, the role requires expert oncology scientific and technical skills, emotional intelligence, strong business acumen, and a passion for improving patient care. Strong existing networks in the oncology ecosystem, preferably in breast cancer, are essential. This role involves engaging confidently with the multi-disciplinary team to understand stakeholder roles and needs, working collaboratively as part of a cross functional team.

Specific Responsibilities

Oncology Scientific Expertise

Demonstrates a clear understanding of the factors that impact, shape and influence the oncology ecosystem such as:

  • Has deep understanding and navigates complex oncology hospital environments.

  • Has established strategic relationships with MDT, opinion leaders, senior account level leadership, including key policy shaping and decision makers.

  • Partners and collaborates with the oncology multi-disciplinary team, understanding each stakeholder’s role and needs.

  • Has established oncology networks.

  • Expert scientific knowledge in oncology, serving as a clinical resource for customers.

  • Promotes the appropriate use of Gilead products to healthcare professionals using in–depth product and therapeutic disease knowledge.

  • Deep understanding of the patient journey from diagnosis to potential treatment, with insights into day chemotherapy suites and strategic prioritization.

Key Account Management

  • Expert in account management and key account management.

  • Develops and executes strategic account plans, including prioritizing individual stakeholder and account activities.

  • Navigates complex hospital environments, understanding the needs and challenges of stakeholders at all levels and partners to find win-win solutions.

Sales Leadership

  • Understand future trends and shape ecosystems to introduce new treatment paradigms.

  • Strong strategic partnering with multiple external stakeholder groups, including C suite executives.

  • Extensive experience in sales leadership, coaching, and mentoring.

  • Proven track record in launching new classes of oncology therapies and shaping new business, including diagnostics.

  • Delivers results in reimbursed and non-reimbursed settings.

  • Strong project manager skills.

  • Thorough understanding of the challenges associated with complex compounded drugs and experience with infusion-based therapy.

Business Acumen and Accountability

  • Develops in-depth market interpretation and sales analysis.

  • Thrives in an agile oncology setting with rapid data updates.

  • Prepares and executes launch and business plans, assigns targets and communicates required actions to achieve goals.

  • Delivering Early Access Programs as planned.

  • Manages seamless transitions from non-reimbursed to reimbursed setting.

  • Demonstrates advanced business acumen to lead strategic account and commercial plans, including clear goals and tactics aligned with corporate and commercial business objectives.

  • Takes ownership of sales targets and supports team target delivery.

  • Initiates systems to monitor sales progress and action plans.

  • Manages territory budgets for sales and expenditure.

  • Represents the company at professional events and promotes products.

  • Leads sales initiatives to meet market plans.

  • Completes administrative tasks promptly, e.g. updating customer database, expenses etc

  • Achieves required competency levels for the role.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, state, and federal law.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

  • Expert in Oncology (including diagnostics), account management and key account management.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with a high level of autonomy and independence.

  • Must be able to serve as a technical product expert to HCPs and be able show deep understanding of the broader oncology ecosystem.

  • Deep understanding the patient journey from diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, and survivorship.

  • This position requires knowledge of industry trends and competitor’s resources and practices.

  • Must be able to proactively identify issues, opportunities, and resolutions and is able to present and effectively communicate issues and recommendations to marketing and sales management.

  • Strategic leadership, business agility, transparency, and innovation.

To be considered you must have:

  • Bachelors degree or higher.

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant selling experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

  • At least 5+ years experience in an oncology.

  • Demonstrated track record in oncology account management, key account management.

  • Strategic sales leadership and expert selling skills.

  • Demonstrated strong business acumen.
