How Will You Make an Impact?

The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated engineers and scientists, passionate about bringing actionable insights to molecular testing in biopharmaceutical and clinical space! The candidate will work collaboratively in a matrix environment to develop assays for biopharma safety test and disease using real-time PCR, CE sequencing and next-generation sequencing technologies. The role will provide expert analysis of predicted assay performance and analyze assay performance retroactively. This individual will work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists to develop an exciting pipeline of products to meet our mission for quality – right the first time with the customer in mind.

What will you do?

  • Primary responsibility is to support biopharma new product introductions (NPI), focusing on PCR-based assays, capillary electrophoresis and next-generation assay panel design.

  • Additional responsibilities include support for on-market products and using innovative approaches for system improvement and troubleshooting.

  • Ensure proper design and timely execution of development, analysis, and documentation of assays.

  • Work with a team of bench scientists to provide interpretation of data and assay design optimization.

  • Apply existing pipelines and tools for assay development to design new processes that align with the overall goals of the business.

How will you get here?

  • MS degree with 3+ years of proven experience or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, computer science, or biological sciences.

  • Experience in molecular biology fields such as microbiology, oncology, inherited disease or human genetics is required.

  • Experience with sequence database retrieval and big data handling is required.

  • Experience with PCR primer design, sequence alignment analysis, next-generation assay design and/or data management is required.

  • Familiarity with product development and/or project management, especially in cell gene therapy or biopharmaceutical industry is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of molecular biology-based analysis (PCR, capillary electrophoresis, NGS) is required.

  • Proficiencies in scripting language (e.g. Perl/Python), and statistical package (e.g. R or MATLAB) is required.

  • Knowledge of common sequence repositories is required.

  • Understanding of taxonomic classification systems and basic phylogenetics is preferred.

  • Knowledge of machine learning models and data governance frameworks to leverage AI is preferred.

  • Effective communication skills, especially for presenting scientific results, working collaboratively in a team, and documentation is required.

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and geographically distributed team environment is required.
