Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Silver Spring, Maryland

Description

We are currently seeking a dynamic and skilled Senior Accountant to join one of our clients Corporate Accounting groups within their Finance department. This crucial role is responsible for ensuring strict compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies, while independently and accurately preparing and posting journal entries and managing monthly account reconciliations. As the Senior Accountant, you will exercise your professional judgment to establish the appropriate accounting treatment.

Role Responsibilities:

• Review and settle operational accounting transactions, formulate journal entries, and reconcile balance sheet accounts

• Conduct thorough reviews of financial posting activities to ascertain their relevance for financial classifications or disclosures, and post-reclassification journal entries as necessary

• Scrutinize annual trends and variances to facilitate internal senior management reports and support external auditors

• Aid the preparation of select schedules for quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K)

• Evaluate new and amended agreements for compliance with GAAP requirements

• Assist with external and internal audits

• Uphold policies and procedures for delegated functional areas

• Participate in the cross-training of financial functions with other team members

• Complete all other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field alongside progress towards obtaining your CPA

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a public accounting firm dealing with large companies OR 2 years of experience working for a large for-profit organization

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

• Prior experience with an ERP system (preferably SAP)

• Knowledge of SEC filings and GAAP

• Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities

• Excellent organizational and time management skills alongside effective cross-level communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

The remuneration package for this Senior Accountant role is competitive, with a salary range of $75K - $105K (your base pay will depend on your skills, experience and training, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs). Requirements

• Must hold a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role as a Sr. Accountant or public accounting (audit)

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations is required

• Must have a solid understanding of the general ledger and journal entries

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required

• Experience with month-end close processes is necessary

• Prior experience with SAP software is preferred

• Experience in public accounting audit is preferred

• Audit - Financial experience is desirable

• Must hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or currently on the CPA track

• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required

• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must possess strong organizational and planning skills

• Must have ethical conduct and confidentiality

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills are required
