Description

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team based in SILVER SPRING, Maryland. This role is within the automotive industry and will involve overseeing the accounting practices and managing accounting personnel across multiple dealership locations. The Assistant Controller will also be responsible for generating financial data, identifying areas for improvement, and providing accurate reporting to senior management.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the hiring, training, and management of all accounting personnel across multiple dealership locations

• Strive for the continuous improvement of data integrity and information reporting throughout the Division

• Supervise the timely preparation and submission of monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with manufacturer guidelines

• Review accounting schedules and ensure that all general ledger accounts and manufacturer accounts are current and accurate

• Conduct reviews of general ledger account reconciliations, including bank accounts, reserve accounts, factory payables, and floor plan payables, and verify accuracy of reconciliations with outside sources

• Regularly interpret financial statements and daily operating control (DOC) reports and inform senior management of developing trends

• Participate in the preparation of short-term and long-term financial forecasts for the Division

• Assist in the preparation of all information provided to outside auditors and tax preparers to ensure accuracy of information provided and minimize costs

• Provide supervision and assistance to all Office personnel in performing their daily responsibilities

Skills:

• Proficiency in Reynolds DMS, MS Excel

• Experience with accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Auditing, and Budget Processes

• Knowledge of the Automotive Industry and Account Reconciliation

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role as an Assistant Controller or in a related field.

• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Solutions.

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is a must.

• Familiarity with Reynolds DMS is desirable.

• Proven expertise in carrying out Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Prior experience in Auditing and managing Budget Processes is required.

• Knowledge of the Automotive Industry is a plus.

• Must possess strong skills in Account Reconciliation.

• Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are necessary.

• A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required; an MBA or related advanced degree is preferred.

• CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable.

• Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
