The Signal Hill and Van Nuys location is a pipeline terminal that handles gasoline products for distribution to Shell customers. The terminal receives product via pipeline and ships out products via a truck loading rack. Terminal operators are responsible for all operational duties related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of its products.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Willingness to provide operational coverage if required at Van Nuys Terminal

  • Maintaining compliance with company procedures and government regulations related to HSSE. (Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental) and various agency permits.

  • Providing general maintenance and housekeeping in support of terminal assets to ensure a safe, secure, and environmentally sound operation.

  • Handling, receiving, transferring, shipping, and storing of petroleum products via pipeline and truck.

  • Demonstrating an ability to problem solving on loading rack malfunctions and other terminal systems

  • Demonstrating a basic knowledge of computer software

  • Demonstrate basic mathematical calculations for stock reconciliation

  • Conducting quality assurance sampling and testing of products

  • Obtain and maintain OQ’s for job role

  • Demonstrating an accountable for thorough and complete compliance with company and regulatory procedures in the execution of the job such as:

  • Become a proficient user of SAP, TMS and Synthesis

  • Must obtain Weights and Measures Service Agent license

  • Compliance with the Distribution Health & Safety Manual

  • Compliance with the Terminal Operations Manual

  • Compliance with the Distribution Measurement Manual

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Previous Terminal Operations or prior military experience preferred

  • Experience in the petrochemical industry preferred

  • Possess or be able to qualify to receive a Forklift Operator Certification within 90 days of employment is a plus

  • Mechanical experience preferred

  • Be able to troubleshoot and correct equipment and stock measurement loss/gain problems

  • Possess a Class A license with Haz-Mat endorsement is a plus

  • Must be willing to climb ladders, walk up and down steps, and work at heights with or without accommodation

  • Must be willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation

  • Must be willing to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation

  • Must be willing to respond to emergencies as part of the Emergency Response Team with or without accommodation. To attend to emergencies, successful candidates must reside within 60 minutes of the site or be willing to relocate to within 60 minutes of the site without relocation assistance

  • Must be willing to work a rotating shift work schedule

  • Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends

  • Must be willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies

  • Must possess or able to obtain Hazardous Materials certification

  • As part of the pre-employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from all pre-employment background, drug, medical, and reference checks, including. hair, fluid drug testing

  • Must be willing to support the company's drug-free work environment, which will include random drug screenings

The annual salary range for this role is $70,000 - $106,000. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
