POSITION SUMMARY\ Under general supervision of the classroom teacher, to assist the teacher in instructional tasks and in routine clerical record-keeping and in the overall guidance of student activities involving games, sports, arts and crafts, and various recreational programs and Library.\ \ KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to maintain accurate records and reports, to monitor students,follow written and/or verbal instructions,establish and maintain effective relationships, work with and secure the cooperation of students
• Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and with specialized computer-based equipment and software
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
• Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members
• Ability to understand and maintain students and parents rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students
• Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures

• Supervise a classroom of students without a certified teacher being present
• Be knowledgeable of the basic course content for students; and, educational goals and objectives for each assigned student
• Assist in planning the days activity
• Assist in identifying area of needs related to the program
• Assist in the development, planning and implementation of the program.
• Maintains required records and files
• Performs related duties as assigned
