Description

 

Responsible for the fabrication, installation and maintenance of traffic and informational road signs throughout the county road system. Applies and maintains the road striping and pavement markings, as well as other duties associated with the support of construction, maintenance, or repair of county roads, bridges, drainage systems, and engineering projects.

Examples of Duties

 

Fabricates and installs new signs and repairs old signs throughout the county road system. Responsible for the loading, unloading and installation of signs. 

 

Responsible for barricade placement and marking roads for striping. Works with the pavement striping contractor for painting centerlines and pavement edge marking.

 

Install centerline reflectors in ground recesses in pavement.

 

Installs reflectors on guardrails and Jersey barriers.

 

Washes road signs in place to remove grime and maintain sign visibility. 

 

Repairs and refinishes damaged signs and barricades. Removes sign facings from used signs for reuse of the backing.

 

Places and removes warning barricades at hazardous road locations. Sets out and removes detour signs and barricades.

 

Lays out and paints railroad crossing markers, crosswalks, and stop bars. 

 

Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
