AWARE INC Residential Counselor Advocate in Sharon, Pennsylvania
Aware, Inc is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support and resources to individuals experiencing domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA) and emotional abuse. We offer emergency housing, advocacy services, crisis intervention, and community outreach programs to empower survivors and facilitate their transition to safe and independent living.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Emergency Housing Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence, along with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Assist adult DV residents of emergency housing with transition to communal living:
- Accurately assess eligibility for the emergency housing program.
- Provide client accompaniment or transportation to support service plan objectives as needed.
- Facilitate house meetings to address challenges to communal living.
- Conduct support group meetings and structured educational group activities weekly.
Provide crisis intervention and advocacy services for adult residents in emergency housing:
- Offer crisis intervention, individual advocacy, systems advocacy, and referrals.
- Coordinate service delivery for child/teen residents with the agency Youth Advocate.
- Complete intake, assessment, ESG documentation, and case notes before the end of the shift.
- Develop a weekly service plan for each client using the SMART model.
- Provide VCAP education, information, and assistance completing paperwork.
- Participate in case management meetings to review client progress.
Promote a safe and secure environment for residents and staff:
- Review emergency housing security footage daily and report any concerns to the supervisor.
- Document and report violations of residence rules or procedures by residents to the supervisor.
- Document and report any potential facility needs to the supervisor at least weekly.
Conduct Community Outreach and Education:
- Promote agency services and programs throughout the Northern Mercer County area.
- Provide staff support to the Williams House Advisory Board.
- Represent the agency on assigned community coalitions.
- Conduct outreach and basic AWARE services education as assigned by the supervisor.
- Identify and assist with the collection and segregation of donations.
Other
- Complete all reporting and documentation accurately and timely
- Complete ETO documentation at least on weekly basis
- Attend agency events as directed by supervisor
- Attend staff meetings, in-service training, workshops as directed by supervisor
- Complete (10) hours continuing education annually
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in helping field required.
Commitment to agency mission and core values
Complete required agency training
Act 33/34 and FBI clearances required
Computer familiar
Possess a valid driver's license, insurance, use of a vehicle. Travel is requirement of position.
Sensitivity working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
Successful experience working with diverse groups and populations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
