The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Focus on continuous optimization and documentation of IT (Information Technology) processes and delivery of network service support.

  • Review and report lifecycle management status for network hardware, software, and WAN (Wide Area Networks) circuits.

  • Oversee compliance and enforce adherence to all operating policies and procedures, identify service and process gaps and respective remediation.

  • Support collaborative relationships between network, other IT service lines, corporate leadership, vendors, and service providers.

  • Oversees active monitoring of network environment, hardware, circuit capacity and performance. 

  • Coordinate reporting on environment health, operational support, and security compliance.

  • Track network tasks and efforts, and ensure they are completed with quality and on time.

  • Track the commissioning and decommissioning of network assets and ensure Asset Inventory is current, complete, and correct.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot fault isolation and recovery of failed network components or services.

  • Review operations guides and runbooks for currency, completion, and compliance.

  • Maintain alignment with network planning, capacity management, and deployment of support initiatives.

  • Ensure network service quality meets all performance objectives and measures, SLAs, security/vulnerability compliance measures, and time and cost requirements.

  • Provide input to service line and organizational leadership to formulate monthly, quarterly, and yearly service metrics or other major business objectives.

  • Assist with continuous improvement, cost reduction and capital projects.

  • Lead initiatives and efforts as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4-year degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years prior experience with infrastructure service support monitoring, management, and processes.

  • Prior experience supporting and troubleshooting IT services, devices, functions, tools, processes in a corporate environment.

  • Prior experience tracking tasks, work efforts, and initiatives to ensure they are successfully delivered.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Solid understanding of infrastructure (compute, network, storage, etc.) environments and how they work.

  • Proven ability to think through problem management, visualize solutions and drive to resolution.

  • Experience maintaining thorough documentation for design and planning.

  • Ability to work with staff within and outside of the IT Department.

  • Solid communications ability, with great interpersonal and influencing skills.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment and motivate others.

  • Must be flexible and ready to absorb new skills and techniques.

  • Must be willing to be available for occasional off-hour engagement and activity.

  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

  • Excellent technical analysis, problem solving, and business relationship skills.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • 2+ years network service management experience.

  • Experience working with switches, routing, and wireless LAN (Local Area Networks).

  • Experience using monitoring, alerting and forensic tools such as SolarWinds or ThousandEyes.

  • Direct experience assessing network capacity and consumption.

  • Knowledge of data analysis and presentation.

  • Knowledge of automation.
