Job Description

As a Platform - DevQA - Software Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software systems for GM's platforms. Your focus will be on software testing, testing functionalities of SOC architecture low-level operating systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system engineers, and product managers, to define test strategies, develop test plans, and execute test cases. Your daily responsibilities will include:

• Working closely with product managers to understand feature requirements and translate them into test cases and metrics for test results.

• Providing guidance for BSP/HIWO packages integration into DPLY for release cadence.

• Guiding weekly planning/coordination meetings to align on the content and timing of every new package.

• Documenting test results, tracking defects, and providing regular status reports to stakeholders.

• Participating in design and test result reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards.

• Reviewing test cases and test data in collaboration with partners, safety team, and validation team.

Identifying BSW components testing needs.

Knowledge of multiple software development methodologies such as Waterfall, Iterative, and Agile. Advanced knowledge of the different test types needed for a project based on a review of the business and software requirements. Demonstrated & advanced knowledge of test case management using HP ALM or Microsoft TFS (or equivalent test management tool). Advanced experience with compiling, analyzing, and communicating software test metrics and reporting. Advanced ability to drive project teams through software quality engagements. Advanced ability to drive closure on ambiguities found from reviewing business and software requirements.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• 3+ years of firmware/software development experience.

• Experience with model-based developments and HIL environment.

• SW Testing tool experience in CANoe, CANalyzer, and Lauterbach Trace32.

• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and SAFe framework.

• Experience with test case management tools and defect tracking systems.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in Mandarin and English.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

• CAPL, Perl, and Python test script development for testing automation.

• Experience with automotive safety standards and functional safety requirements.

• Hands-on testing with UDS Serial Data Communication (CAN/Eth/LIN) Diagnostics and CAN tools.

• Grasp of functionalities and architecture of BSW Modules, embedded low-level systems testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ISTQB or other software testing certifications.

• Understanding of SOC basic software architecture.

• Familiarity with JIRA, JAMA, or similar project management tools.

• Experience with test automation frameworks and tools.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.

• Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn new technologies.

• 3+ years of experience in Active Safety feature validation.

• Vehicle performance integration experience.

• DFSS Certification.
