Google Software Engineer II, Google Home in Shanghai, China

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, Javascript).

  • 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: networking, video/audio processing, video streaming, on-device machine learning.

  • Experience in Linux embedded software development.

  • Experienced with software development in C/C++.

  • Experience in camera software development.

  • Experience or interest in IoT cameras and smart home technologies.

With your technical expertise, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

  • Design and develop the camera software stack that powers Google Home's next generation of camera and doorbell devices.

  • Contribute to feature design, maintain code quality and scalability, and implement best practices across the video/audio processing, networking, media streaming, and on-device machine learning.

  • Track project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with software milestones. Own development and shipment responsibilities.

  • Manage the complete software cycle from design to launch, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Contribute to enhancing the Google Home Camera user experience to strengthen product competitiveness and strategy.
