Amazon Business (AB) serves a broad set of customers with diverse procurement requirements and processes, ranging from small businesses to large enterprises to government agencies. To help us meet the needs of these dissimilar customers, we segmented AB customers into two groups. The first is the Self-Service Registration cohort (SSR), made up of small businesses. The other segment is Commercial, Public, and Strategic (CPS), which includes larger customers with greater spend potential but more complex needs, in the Commercial (COM), Healthcare (HC), Government (GOV), Education (EDU), and Non-Profit (NP) segments. We also sub-segment CPS by size: Small/Medium Businesses (SMB) and Enterprise. We have invested in a sales force and technical features to help CPS customers integrate with and purchase from AB. This SSR/CPS bifurcation informs the AB org structure and strategy for driving each business.
