Job Description

The Sr. Backend Engineer is part of the Software Engineer family. The Software Engineer builds software functionality and participates actively in the product team by taking on development responsibilities across the solution. The Software Engineer can contribute across several technical activities, including development-heavy and low-code activities, such as data engineering, software development, system/product configuration and DevOps. They have a real passion for development and a demonstrated appetite for continual learning, typically manifest in their community contributions (e.g., open source work, publishing / speaking on technical ideas).

Core Responsibilities:

  • Build and configure end-to-end applications through close collaboration with other product team members.

  • Develop products that implement business logic, modern design patterns and architectural principles.

  • Engineer products that follow highest coding standards, e.g. documentation and efficiency.

  • Ensure product robustness and reliability by writing and executing unit and integration tests.

  • Improve operational efficiency by developing automation tools for daily tasks.

  • Build efficient and optimal solutions by challenging ideas/opinions.

  • Suggest and define future stories to support the product owner.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Computer Science/Software Engineering or related university education background with Bachelor above degree.

  • 5+ years experience in software development and architecture.

  • 3+ years experience and deep knowledge on programming with Java and JavaScript, have other language experience would be a plus.

  • Familiar with Spring Framework (Spring Boot/Spring MVC/etc).

  • Knowledge in relational database (MySQL/PostgreSQL/etc), non-SQL database (Mongo/AWS DynamoDB/etc) and message queue (Kafka/RabbitMQ/AWS SQS/etc).

  • Experience with modern front-end framework (React preferred).

  • Experience in cloud and the corresponding services and architecture design patterns.

  • Experience in design patterns, code refactoring and test-driven development.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and git-based source control.

  • Experience with observability tools like ELK/Grafana/Instana/etc.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proficient in communicating tech concepts and align organization on decisions with partners of all levels of expertise.

  • Previous experience in retail/e-commerce industry would be plus.

  • Advanced in Chinese and English.
