Job Description Summary • Works with PayPal business units and Product Dev teams to design, develop and deliver data solutions on one of the largest data platforms in the world. • Contributes to the design and development of Data Solutions or Data Pipeline (example: be one of three engineers working on Data requirements of PayPal's project or bring Innovation in Customer Service, or Supporting Data aggregation for an Executive Dashboard or Report on TPV growth trend etc.). • Spends most of the time developing data pipelines/ETL code for solving various data requirements using traditional ETL tools but also has experience & skills for building custom data pipelines. • Excited to work with traditional, big data and NoSQL Data platforms. ETL Code is well-commented and typically improves after one or more code reviews. • Produces code that is sufficiently supported by unit and regression tests for data quality and sustainable process. • Supports PayPal business units by providing data in a ready-to-use form to data analysts and data scientists for Business insights, predictive analytics, machine learning, etc. • Responsible for managing 1 to 2 data process applications, providing necessary support and maintenance activities. • Should be comfortable working in an agile environment and with cross-functional teams, should have appetite to learn and be flexible to pick up new technology.

• EE/CS or related majors. Bachelor and above.

• 3+ years working in data engineer or a similar role in large enterprise data warehouse teams preferred.

• Ability to understand analytical, BI requirements and PayPal Business processes.

• Good understanding of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Application Design & Development

• Learn and Develop the ability to deals with both structured and unstructured data sets & hence uses different approaches to data architecture and applications in building data pipeline.

• Can acquire detailed knowledge of data warehouse architectures, ETL/ ELT, reporting/analytic tools, and data security & compliance

• Gains knowledge of various big data technologies, open source data processing frameworks

• Good understanding of Data, debugging skills with a solid understanding of testing practices.

• Understanding of with version control systems, particularly GIT

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Good understanding of database principles and SQL, beyond just data access

• Intermediate level knowledge on following technologies:
 o Spark with Python or Scala
 o HBase o Hive/Pig o scripting(Shell, Python, Java) o database fundamentals(Oracle or Teradata) o Hadoop echo system o Elastic search

• Intermediate level knowledge on following business domains is a plus: o Marketting o Customer Service o Payments o Merchant servicing o e-commerce

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
