Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Supervises all prepress department personnel involved in preflight, production, proofing, imposition, and plating operations. Makes specific job assignments as prescribed by the department master schedule. Interacts with other production supervisors and coordinators to maximize production. Provides technical details to clarify questions or problems with job. Performs various jobs within the department when emergencies or overload conditions develop. Reviews daily work in progress and ensures that personnel have correct instructions and specifications. Monitors production output with emphasis on production standards and quality standards. Recommends plans for production improvements. Maintains and compiles time reporting records, down time, etc. Requisitions supplies for department and assists in maintaining inventory records. Maintains production schedules to desired requirements. Recommends equipment repairs, parts and supplies. Issues work orders for the maintenance of all equipment in the Prepress department and designated area. Informs Prepress Department Manager of personnel requirements and complaints. Conducts department personnel training/coaching including internship programs. Recommends required overtime needs to meet established deadlines. Maintains good housekeeping and answers phones. Actively manage issues that are creating delays. Work with other departments when they are involved to resolve issues quickly. Present on the floor at shift change and monitor production and employees during this period. Inspect for SOP compliance consistently as the rounds are being made through the department. Verify that jobs are being produced to all the information supplied along with approving and double checking their work. Verify that maintenance is being done including sign off on maintenance sheets in the Logbooks. Communicate important issues to the Prepress Manager. Assist in completing performance reviews and communicate with team members goals and expectations set throughout the year. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise employees within the prepress department MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION Vocational/technical degree and/or equivalent experience. 5+ years' experience in all phases of litho-prep. Supervision experience and technical and interpersonal skills. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Extensive knowledge of all production processes related to preparatory activities, equipment, materials, products, computer programs, and personnel. Ability to plan and supervise effectively. Knowledge of general maintenance procedures. Displays a Servant Leadership style of management. Ability to develop new techniques for improving efficiency and productivity. Ability to anticipate problems and implement solutions to avoid them. Ability to communicate and understand written as well as verbal instructions. Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Model the behavior to create a safe work environment. Knowledge of production materials (stocks, ink, coatings, etc.). Knowledge of G7 / GRACoL color management tools and techniques. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Frequent reaching, bending, climbing kneeling, crouching, and stooping. Frequent standing for prolonged periods of time Frequent walking Ability to lift, pull, push up to 40 pounds. Ability to visually inspect all work for defects. Manual dexterity for repetitive work The national pay range for this role is $75,000- $95,000/ year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
