SHIFT: 6:00am - 6:00pm, rotating JOB DESCRIPTION: Supervises non-exempt employees involved in print production bindery, digital finishing and die cutting. Monitors productivity and performance standards, plans and directs workflow and project assignments. Oversees production volume to ensure service standards are met. Conducts hiring, training, and evaluation of staff. Actively support continues improvement initiatives including implementation of 5S and LEAN techniques to improve throughput and cleanliness. Assist with deploying the Imagine Way training program within Converting. Lead by example by being present on the floor during shift change. Monitor production and employee crossover activities. Ensure employees are at their workstations to minimize equipment downtime. Audit SOP compliance while making rounds throughout the Department. Ensure employees are trained and evaluated on safety procedures and policies. Emphasize importance of maintaining and operating equipment safely and keeping work areas clean. Respond to and report on injuries, investigate root cause and recommend preventative corrective action. Track and control department expenditures and labor costs to ensure compliance with department budgets. Act as the "culture carrier" for the business through active leadership, engagement, and accountability. Monitor output, cycle times, and quality indicators. Work with other department managers such as QA, Scheduling, planning, etc. to resolve difficult or recurring production problems. Regularly monitor department equipment for defects and make requests for maintenance and repairs. Follow-up with maintenance staff to ensure timely resolution of requests. Request repairs from outside services as needed. Monitor production schedules and assign tasks to staff ensuring customer commitments are being met. Promotes a positive work environment, sound training programs, and adherence to ISO work instructions and procedures. Identify employees' skills and develop them by coaching employees on a regular basis. Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance reviews. Assign jobs to machines that are best suited to the job. Perform spot checks during production runs and provide instructions if technical problems occur. Perform various jobs within the department when emergencies or overload conditions develop. Coordinate department's operations with other supporting departments to ensure that conformity to quality standards is maintained and that workflows without costly delays. Recommend required overtime to meet established deadlines. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 10 + years industry experience required 5+ years supervising hourly workforce required Knowledge of Converting / Finishing equipment and procedures preferred KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Knowledge of general maintenance procedures. Demonstrate positive safety attitude. Ability to communicate/understand written as well as oral instructions. Ability to develop new techniques for handling work. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs. Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish colors. Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping. Manual dexterity for repetitive work. Fre uent walking and standing. The national pay range for this role is $70,000- $90,000/year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
