The Job
Reporting to the Global Industrial Engineering Leader this individual will coach, mentor and provide leadership to field based management teams to improve their leadership skills in supporting the global labor transformation initiatives. The Industrial Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert for operations management and team leadership skills across multiple business lines during the international field-based optimization projects.This position will review project baseline measurements, provide recommendations for workflow improvements and job station set up, review the local management’s daily/weekly operating plans, recommend improvements to the daily/weekly operation plan and coach the local management to achieve higher performance.
The Responsibilities
Engage with business unit leaders, leaders in regions/countries to ensure program has full understanding of business requirements to inform plan and prioritization
Conduct train-the-trainer classes to enable a faster and more complete adoption in various countries and Regions
Work on cross-functional teams to perform problem analysis, engineer and re-engineer a wide variety of business processes across multiple business lines
Deliver results partnering globally with key functional and business leaders
Develop engineered work standards and work targets using the MOST system and will introduce 5S/Lean principles throughout all the optimization training projects
Operational Excellence, Standards & Compliance–Regularly attend business review meeting and meet with Operations Managers and Supervisors to review operational results
Ensure hands on, active leadership, and that decisions are made based on review and analysis of activity to understand resource allocation, business capacity, challenges and opportunities
The Person
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics or other technical degree(and/or equivalent experience), 3+ years of in Operations Management or Engineering required
Logistic experience a plus knowledge and experience of how to define KPIs, set work targets and install management methods and tracking tools
Successful track record with field projects and deployments
First class technical experience and a strong analytical approach with experience in:
Operational efficiency
Develop and implement optimization action plans and be held accountable to timelines and sustained measurement
Translation of existing work flows into the M.O.S.T. system
Ability to process and analyze data with Excel, VBA is a plus
Process improvement (LEAN/Six Sigma experience a plus but not essential)
Intelligent, self-starter with a pragmatic engineering mind-set
Bias for action; performance driven with the confidence to operate independently
Ability to influence effectively across different cultures
Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills
Decisive, straightforward and a team player
A track-record of coaching and developing geographically disparate teams
Willing to travel extensively across the international operations on a frequent basis
Leadership: ability to coach and mentor teams in the field
TechnicalCapabilities: be able to solve complex operational and staffing questions and solve for the best engineered/operational model
Data Management: understand Iron Mountain’s various information systems (SKP, O’Neil, SecureBase, Roadnet, Route4Me, Territory Planner, OER, RCO) and management processes (PMT, MOST and OEP) to a level where able to mine information from the systems to support intelligent decision making
Global Outlook: ability to operate in a global business, understanding the importance of cultural diversity while at the same time being able to drive effective change across different cultures
Drive Change: in the face of resistance and conflicting views, have the ability to push through new ways of thinking and work both within their team and the wider finance organization (ability to constructively challenge the status quo, identify improvements and engage with all relevant parties to gain commitment and ensure success.
