Transportation Routing Support

This position is responsible for assisting with the efficient coordination of daily transportation activities for multiple distribution facilities while continuously offering opportunities for process and cost improvement.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to work Sunday - Thursday, approximately 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. Flexibility due to additional days/hours during peak periods is required.

  • Utilize Routing software to plan daily driver routes at each distribution center, assuring all customer needs or requirements are met.

  • Work closely with Distribution Management at each individual location in regards to route changes, customer issues, delays, etc.

  • Update customer database containing delivery parameters for customers, address change, and specific route requirements when necessary.

  • Monitor service level performance, accurate route plan data and report results as requested.

  • Assist in completing routing analysis and continually strive to find more efficient ways to route and reduce transportation costs.

  • Conduct data analysis, and creating reports as needed.

    Work Environment:

    This position operates in an office environment with exposure to a warehouse that may/may not be temperature controlled. Temperatures in the warehouse setting may range as low as 36 degrees. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The office portion of this position involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer terminal. Positions in this job family typically work in an office setting but may be assigned more physical duties such as transporting office supplies and bending and stooping to file.

    Travel:

    This position requires minimal travel/overnight stays.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year prior experience working in Transportation or Distribution required.

  • Prior experience with route management software, or other route optimization software preferred.

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations specifically hours of service a plus.

  • Problem-solving skills, and the confidence to make decisions.

  • Ability to successfully manage within deadlines.

  • Strong problem solving and planning skills along with the ability to multi-task.

  • Good math skills to calculate time and distance.

  • Good computer skills with experience using Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, Word)

  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

  • Impeccable attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
