Johnson & Johnson Innovation is searching for a Head of Venture Relations, JLABS Korea, to develop and curate our JLABS Investor Hub. Responsibilities:

This position will launch, curate, and manage our community of investors in life sciences and healthcare across South Korea and Asia Pacific. The goal is to match high potential companies, innovators, and technologies with the right funding partner. A key area of focus in your first few months in the role will be to design and implement a comprehensive launch plan for the JLABS Korea Investor Hub including internal and external communications to recruit investors and keep key stakeholders informed on new engagement strategies and offerings within the Investor Hub. Additionally, this role will be responsible for landscaping and assessing tools associated with investment in the region, metrics related to investment and the regional incentives promoting the life science industry in South Korea. Based on the landscaping and assessment, this role will set a “best practices” strategic plan to refine existing tools and/or launch new tools for the region based on global trends and programs.

This role will also serve as an Entrepreneur in Residence, coaching our portfolio of companies in preparation for investment, negotiations and development of their companies and their technologies. This position will help our JLABS portfolio of companies grow faster and more effectively while also providing support for a broader South Korean ecosystem through coaching, mentorship, and educational programming.

To scale the impact of this role across South Korea, the position will also design and oversee the development of an educational curriculum, including tactical workshops, pitch sessions and networking, to prepare entrepreneurs to sell their science, make essential connections, develop pitch decks, prepare presentations, negotiate with funders and to manage equity. This role will also serve as a conduit for innovators from around the world to connect with South Korean Asia Pacific based investors and strategic partners.

  • This role will work closely with the entire JLABS Korea and Asia Pacific team on sourcing, selecting, and developing our portfolio of companies across South Korea, including regularly tracking and reporting on key KPIs.

  • Landscape and assess existing investment and incentive programs in South Korea and develop a “best practice” guide for these programs relative to other geographies

  • Oversee engagement and communication across our various investor platforms

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding of new investor community members, including agreements and entry/exit surveys

  • Work closely with the Head of JLABS Korea and VP of JLABS Asia Pacific on improving and expanding our CEO programming

  • Partner with our Strategic Marketing Associate Director with relevant content and programming including JLABS’ Investor Meet with Series

  • Connect portfolio companies with Investor Hub members

  • Closely track and report on key KPIs and MetricsBe directly involved in strategic tracking of value across the portfolio

Qualifications

This is a full-time position. The right candidate for this role is highly networked in the venture ecosystem, analytical and excited to optimize business processes and manage large-scale projects for key stakeholders.

  • An advanced degree (MBA and/or a MD or PhD) is preferred.

  • Bilingual, fluent in Korean and English

  • A Minimum of 12 years of experience and a track record in venture capital investing is required.

  • Senior Leadership in start-ups a plus.

  • At least 8 years of relevant professional global experience in the healthcare industry and venture/entrepreneurship is required.

  • S/he must possess deep experience in program budgeting and fiscal management with global experience in business development, technology transfer, and management consulting.

  • Experience in the evaluation and execution of a diverse set of business development opportunities is required.

  • Demonstrated adaptability to work across global functions and therapeutic areas is required.

  • Some travel (Regional and West and East coast US) will be required.

This position is located in South Korea and requires willingness to travel (both domestically & internationally) up to 15% of the time.
