Google Category Manager, YouTube Shopping (English, Korean) in Seoul, South Korea

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in partnership, business development, or management consulting in video or commerce industries.

  • Ability to communicate in English and Korean to collaborate with colleagues and complete tasks and projects.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in Business Development, Project Management, Program Management, or Product Management roles.

  • Experience researching consumer trends, competitor strategies, and industry developments to keep category offerings relevant.

  • Excellent attention to detail, with a creative, open-minded, persistent, and collaborative understanding of Google products.

  • Excellent strategic consultation and problem solving skills with a range of external stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication skills to formulate and articulate contractual, technical, financial, and value points with partners and internal Google teams.

  • Passion for the new media and e-commerce industry.

Google's line of products and services to our clients never stops growing. The Partnerships Development team is responsible for seeking and exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Equipped with your business acumen and extensive product knowledge, you are right on the front line of interacting with our partners, and helping them find ways to grow using Google's newest product offerings. Your knowledge of relevant verticals and relationships with key industry players will help shape our great applications and content for products such as YouTube, Google TV and Commerce.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to lead video commerce ventures on YouTube. Your mission will be to forge profitable and long-lasting business opportunities for YouTube creators while revolutionizing Korea's e-commerce landscape. The key responsibilities you will oversee include developing, implementing, and owning a comprehensive strategy to establish YouTube as a preferred shopping destination, conducting in-depth shopping data analysis to gain valuable insights, educating creators, brands, and other Strategic Partnerships Manager on best practices to enhance shopping initiatives, and managing relationships and collaborations with shopping affinity agencies and brands to drive successful shopping initiatives.

  • Analyze business data, video commerce market reports, and key performance indicators to inform market shopping strategies.

  • Develop long-term strategies across product categories aligned with overarching business goals.

  • Develop and build relationships with commerce-focused Multi-Channel Networks/agencies to help them succeed on YouTube.

  • Drive adoption of YouTube Shopping by effectively communicating its value in helping partners achieve their goals and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Cultivate and manage merchant partners and develop new business opportunities.
