About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.

Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity as a Production Techician III , providing support to our Power Generation Department. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling various components to build diesel power generators. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our power generators are constructed efficiently and function properly in our Seguin facility.

What you will do:

  • Align and install gaskets, seals, bearings, hoses, covers, electrical wiring, and visual components as directed by work instruction

  • Ensure that parts and materials used in the assembly process are free from quality defects

  • Assist other departments with problem solving or improvement ideas related to assembly

  • Perform audits and carry out quality inspections to correct known defects

  • Lead and support Caterpillar Production System continuous improvement activities

  • Escalate issues and the necessary resources to root cause and develop counter measures

  • Provide information to supervisors and managers about processes within assigned area

  • Perform Plan/Method Audits of the production processes to ensure critical to customer actions are occurring correctly

  • All other duties as assigned

What you will have:

  • Knowledge with facility manufacturing process

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Experience with inspection process & auditing

  • Ability to read engine blueprints

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Basic knowledge of Standard Assembly tools and applications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Shift and/or value stream flexibility

  • At least 6 months’ Manufacturing/Assembly experience or equivalent education

  • Experience utilizing PLEX

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive operations

  • Ability to lift at least 35lbs.

Additional Information:

  • $19.50 an hour starting payrate

  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 5:00am - 3:30pm

  • Overtime may be required
