EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION: Valid State of New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs Licensed Practical Nurse. Able to read and write in English. Medical clearance, work authorization, and security clearance requirementsEXPERIENCE: One year full-time working experience with patients in the medical field. Ability to comprehend and demonstrate medical and nursing knowledge competencies. Computer literacy of elemental computer operations. Internet, email, word processing, graphics and spreadsheets and databases. Computer proficiency in MS Office, and electronic health records. Knowledgeable and / or interpret CARF accreditation standards. Interpret current rules, regulations, and policies to make decisions based upon them. Principles and practices of drug abuse screening, education, treatment, intervention and referral and aftercare programs services.SPECIAL CLIENT-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS: Capable of working effectively in a self-directed role, able to multi-task and problem-solve. Telephone etiquette.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Interviews patients about current problems, medications, and allergies and reviews medical record for pertinent previous and current information.Assists physicians, registered nurses, and consultants.Assists the RN in processing new employee/volunteer/intern medical clearance.Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications.Assists in coordinating medication self-administration to include medication orders, medication carts, medication charting, noting amounts on the charts of clients in residence.Assists in documenting, charting, administering, and reading COVID19, TB Mantoux testing and drug screens.Performs variety of office responsibilities: answers phone, takes messages, and performs triage within scope of licensed practical nursing practice in an accurate and timely manner.Measures and records patients’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.Provides basic routine patient care or treatments such as obtaining vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration, wound care, others as instructed by the DON and/or Medical Director.Performing emergency CPRPrepares specimens for lab courier.Works as part of a health care team to assess patient needs, plans and modifies care, and implements interventions.Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes, conferring with other health care team members.Assembles and/or manages as well as maintains equipment and related supplies. Maintains adequate inventory of examination room supplies and prepares exam rooms at the beginning and end of day and between each patient contact.Records all documentation in accordance with agency policy, departmental policy, Federal Confidentiality Regulations CFR42 and HIPAA Part2, NJ State Licensure Regulations for Residential and Outpatient SUD Facilities, Standard Operating Procedures in Nursing.Keep client’s health records updated.Facilitates and assists in the coordination of patient referrals.Participates in the orientation and training of new personnel.Delivers nursing care to the consumer in accordance to Evidence Based Practice (EBP).Manage pharmaceuticals and psychotropic medication as well as office stock and medical supplies in an efficient and cost-effective manner.Provide staff and clients with education on pertinent health related issues, healthy lifestyle change and education related to chronic illness and the medical and psychiatric complications of addiction.Promote a safe and effective work environment for the members of the healthcare team.Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team to promote effective treatment and discharge planning.Maintain in an organized manner all necessary documentation in accordance with NJ State Regulations concerning medical and psychiatric care of the client.Assist physician in administering and provide prescribed medications including psychiatric medication.Serve on committees whenever appropriate as assigned.Establish and maintain networking relationships with other service providers in order to provide integrated treatment effective medical case management.Display empathy and positive regard for others in written, verbal, and non-verbal communications.Build trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions.Maintain proficiency in nursing standards and evidence-based treatment, documentation and pharmacology as needed, approved by attending trainings, reading job-related materials, and meeting with others in area of responsibility.Dress appropriately for a workplace with frequent customer service interaction; promote professional work ethic, demeanor and attire in department’s licensed and certified staff.Meet all required standards of confidentiality and safety.Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, talk, and listen in various location withing the Agency at noisy environment for extended periods of time. The employee will be required to move around the premises periodically. The employee must have the ability to operate a personal computer and can express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to lift or move 5 to 50 pounds items by him / herself. Mental requirements include the ability to read, write, concentrate, reason, analyze, evaluate, problem solve, multi-task and perform mathematical calculations. Travel required.
