GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures per provider orders to the highest level of quality possible and with a strong focus on patient care. Positions, moves, and assist patients. Provides routine designated tasks related to the efficient and cost-effective operation of the department. Is part of interdisciplinary team assisting with patient care. Adheres to the Facility Corporate Compliance Plan, to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies, and all accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under the direction of the Office Manager and/or Clinical Supervisor, provides appropriate care to patients within the scope of the Medical Practice Act. Assists in patient education. Assists provider during treatment and examination of patient and administers procedures and treatments as ordered by the provider.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

· Prepares patient for radiologic procedures and protects patient, self and other staff from radiation hazards. Uses facility policy for proper identification of patient prior to performing exam. Educates and prepares patient for the exam requested. Accepts patients and assess their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.

· Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, family, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

· Document and report any patient incident or report of concern in a prompt and timely manner.

· Documents as appropriate in patients' electronic medical record (PACS, Cerner, Athena, other).

· Establish factors to produce quality images. Utilizes the Image Wisely and Image Gently approach with every patient.

· Utilizes all imaging equipment appropriately and safely.

· Utilizes correct positioning techniques.

· Verifies orders and appropriateness of the examination.

· Verifies transmission of studies to PACS.

· Complies with safety standards

· Assists with rooming patients for appointments. Obtains accurate temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, and weight. Documents correctly on progress note.

· Prepares patient for physical examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.

· Explains procedures and treatments to patients and when necessary to significant others prior to implementation.

· Reviews patient charts to ensure that all test results and correspondence are present prior to the provider seeing the patient.

· Assists with patient financial and demographic information.

· Assist with scheduling appointments when needed.

· Assist with patient education as instructed by provider.

· Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.

· Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with AdventHealth policy and procedures and nursing standards. Documents medications completely in the patient’s chart after they are given.

· Reviews appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.

· Responds to and returns in-coming telephone calls in a timely manner. Instructs patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions.

· Responsible for preparation of exam rooms including restocking of treatment areas and disinfecting of exam tables and counters.

· Practices Body Substance Isolation. Ensures that PPE is available at all times in each exam room.

· Demonstrates responsibility/knowledge about commonly used medication.

· Completes Nursing Procedure Log accurately on a daily basis.

· Maintains medication safely by monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures and dating multi-dose vials when opened. Ensures that no expired medications are available for use.

· Follows AdventHealth policy on cleaning and sterilization of instruments. Completes AdventHealth Sterilization Load Record accurately and completely.

· Maintains tickler file for laboratory testing. Reviews on a daily basis.

· Complies with office policy and procedures for OSHA standards.

· The use of personal protective equipment and strict adherence to body substance isolation technique is required.

· Continuously strives to improve patient satisfaction by going above and beyond their expectations

· Pro-actively initiate quality improvement ideas/suggestions

· Support the development of staff teamwork by being willing to assist patients, visitors, and co-workers when necessary to facilitate a smooth workflow.

· Maintain the confidentiality of employees' and patients' administrative and medical information, with no infractions.

· Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan, and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

· Must be willing to float to other AHMG practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Appropriate technical skills in general imaging

· Must be able to operate radiographic equipment and work with electrical and radiant energy

· Comprehensive knowledge of general radiographic procedures

· Ability to operate radiology equipment, computer, copier, fax and scanner

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others of diverse backgrounds

· Able to fully use X-Ray equipment

· Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment

· Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to be highly detailed oriented

· Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and document information accurately

· Display a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth.

· Maintain the confidentiality of employees' and patients' administrative and medical information, with no infractions.

· Requires the ability to verbally communicate clearly and effectively with patients and co-workers.

· Demonstrates responsibility/knowledge about commonly used medication.

· Strong critical thinking skills

· Utilizing Electronic Health Record

· Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· High School Diploma or Equivalent

· Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program / RMA program

· Current, valid BLS certification

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Minimum of a AS, AA Degree or Equivalent

· 1-year medical office experience

· Utilized EHR (Electronic Health Records)

· Previous X-Ray Tech experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· Current Florida State License – Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BMO)

· Certified or Registered Medical Assistant

· Registered or Certified from a recognized Medical Assistant Program

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – current and valid
