The Total Rewards team is looking for a System Analyst Sr, with a product and growth mindset and excellent communications skills and customer service. Our team is responsible for the tools, capabilities, and processes for Total Rewards (Payroll, Compensation, and Benefits) for all our Partners (employees) at Starbucks.

In this role, this partner will own continuous improvement initiatives for the technology supporting Payroll, Compensation, and Benefits, working with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver innovative and data-driven technology solutions and insights, with a focus on elevating the user experience.

We design, build, and nurture a technology ecosystem that elevates the Starbucks brand and grows our business. To be successful, the System Analyst Sr should be experienced in eliciting business requirements, data analysis, troubleshooting, and solution design. They should have a passion for technology and a continuous improvement mindset to design, develop, and deploy enhanced capabilities, at the intersection of software and hardware.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Solution Design and Delivery

  • Gathers, analyzes, and documents solution requirements. Facilitates user story creation and backlog grooming in an agile delivery environment

  • Utilizes LEAN techniques to develop business process designs and improve operations via process re-engineering efforts

  • Supports solution design utilizing user-centric design techniques

  • Effectively assesses improvement opportunities (productivity/efficiency gains, cost savings, etc.)

  • Utilizes agile delivery methodologies and participates on scrum teams in the execution of solution delivery projects

  • Considers overall user technology experience in thoughtfully designing engaging solutions

System Configuration & Testing

  • Performs application configuration in support of solution delivery initiatives

  • Provides consulting to the development team in agile design/development of custom solution components. Partners effectively with application development and participates in code reviews as appropriate

  • Supports solution testing efforts by developing test plans, preparing test environments, coordinating/performing the test execution, and reviewing test results

  • Defines and develops approaches for data conversion and performs the extract, load, and validation of converted data

Production Support

  • Provides global support outside of business hours for critical systems/incidents

  • Drive system support, working trouble tickets and escalating to teammates according to priority and required expertise queue, completing resolution within SLA

  • Develops system proficiency and builds subject matter expertise through root cause analysis

  • Coordinates issue resolution with vendors and/or cross-functional teams. Provides timely and thorough communication regarding issue status/resolution with end-users and team

  • Creates and maintains systems documentation (e.g., Wiki, Confluence, Knowledge Base Articles) Develops and facilitates system training

  • Uses query tools to write ad-hoc queries for mass data analysis and operational reports

  • Develops and delivers system training

  • Provides guidance and input on training documents and Operations SOP’s

Leadership

  • Self-directed; is successful with minimal direction from more senior analysts providing escalation when necessary

  • Partners with business teams, including business systems analysts and Operations, responding quickly and thoroughly to issues and requests

  • Provides constructive input and perspective to team conversations

  • Able to lead small streams of design/work

Summary of Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, plus 5 years of progressive, post-bachelor’s experience in a system engineering or related role.

Must have a minimum 5 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Performing systems development lifecycle and IT operations using Agile and Waterfall.

  • Analyzing, configuring, implementing, and supporting HCM ERP/SAS systems.

  • Engaging in analysis using ad hoc query tools.

  • Utilizing user-centric design concepts in conjunction with agile development and testing processes to support the development of highly engaging technology solutions.

  • Assessing, designing, and deploying sustainable technology solutions.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to learn new technologies.

  • Functional, business process, and configuration experience in Success Factors Compensation and Employee Central is strongly preferred.

  • Experience working with third Party Vendors is preferred.

  • IT Project experience as a project resource in an agile environment

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of systems development lifecycle and IT operations.

  • Functional expertise of relevant applications/modules/platforms (Success Factors, SAP HCM)

  • Utilizes user-centric design concepts in conjunction with agile development and testing processes to support the development of highly engaging technology solutions.

  • Ability to use business knowledge, sound judgment, and resourcefulness to design and deploy highly reliable and sustainable technology solutions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, knowledge of ABAP, and ability to use ad hoc query tools to troubleshoot system issues and analyze large datasets.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to understand business and technical issues and influence decision-making.
